Local Context
TEMPLE AND MANDAPAM WEDDINGS HERE
Virudhachalam is a temple town, and that changes how a wedding gets photographed. A ceremony held in or around a temple has constraints a hall doesn't: restricted flash, limited room to move near the sanctum, fixed positions you can't step past, and a muhurtham timed to the minute with no possibility of a second take.
How we shoot temple ceremonies
We work these in available light with fast prime lenses rather than lighting the space. Flash in a temple is intrusive at best and often not permitted, and a hard flash on a bride's face at the moment of mangalyadharanam looks exactly like what it is. Working in available light needs faster glass and steadier hands, and it produces photographs that look like the ceremony actually felt.
The other constraint is positioning. In a hall we can move; near a sanctum we usually can't. That's why we shoot temple ceremonies with two people covering fixed complementary angles rather than one person circling — the coverage has to be planned before the ritual starts, not improvised during it.
The eastern belt
Virudhachalam, Tittagudi at around 45 km and Veppur at around 55 km all sit on our eastern route, and all three are inside the 60 km no-travel-charge radius. This is regular ground for us through the Aadi and Margazhi seasons.
